Indiana’s Donor Choice Law

-House Enrolled Act 1628, Amended IC29-2-16-2.5, effective July 1, 2001
Indiana’s Donor Choice Law allows you to decide if you want to donate organs, tissue or eyes in the event of your death.  If your donation decision is properly documented either on your driver’s license on the registry website or on your personal legal documents, your wishes will be carried out at the time of your death.

If you are over 18, your family cannot interfere with your decision to donate.  If you are under 18, you can still register your decision to donate, but your parents or legal guardian must give permission at the time of your death.  We recommend everyone share their wishes with their family and friends.  You may list those to be notified by email after registering your decision online.

If your Indiana Driver’s License has a heart on the front, you have already registered to become a donor.
